A point of sale till that shows you the profit on every sale
Ring up a customer, scan the barcode, take the payment. TunedBooks Till records the sale, takes the item out of stock, and works out what you made on it all from the phone, tablet or computer you already own.
What is TunedBooks Till?
TunedBooks Till is a point of sale built into the TunedBooks app. You pick products from a grid or scan a barcode, take payment, and hand over a receipt. Each sale updates your stock and records the profit automatically, so ringing up a sale and keeping your records is one action instead of two.
Most shop owners do the same job twice. You sell something at the counter, then later you try to remember what went out and write it in a book. By the end of the month the book and the shelf disagree, and nobody can say what the shop actually made.
The till closes that gap. Because the sale is the record, there is nothing to copy over later and nothing to forget. At the end of the day you already know what sold, what is left on the shelf, and what you earned.
Know what you made, not just what you sold
Because you store a cost price against each product, the till calculates profit on every item as it is sold. You see margin per sale, per day and per month without working anything out yourself.
Margin on every item
Each line in the cart carries its cost, so the profit on a sale is known the moment it is rung up.
What the counter took
Close a shift and see what was sold, how it was paid for, and how the drawer compares to the system.
Which products carry you
Your dashboard shows which items bring the most margin and which ones simply sit on the shelf.
How the till works
Open a shift, add items to the cart by scanning or searching, take payment, and the sale is recorded. At the end of the day you close the shift and count the cash.
Open your shift
Start the shift with the cash you have in the drawer. Everything sold from now on belongs to this shift.
Build the cart
Scan a barcode or tap the product on screen. Change quantities, add a customer if you want the sale on their record.
Take payment
Choose how the customer paid, complete the sale, and give them a receipt. Stock drops automatically.
Close and count
Run a Z-report at the end of the day. It totals the shift and compares the cash you counted against the expected amount.
What the till does
The till covers the full counter workflow: scanning, cart, payment, receipt, stock, shifts, refunds and reports.
Product grid and search
Find any item by name or category. Tap to add it to the cart, no typing prices by hand.
Barcode scanning
Use a USB or Bluetooth scanner for speed, or scan with your phone camera if you do not have one.
Cart that fits your screen
A slide-up drawer on a phone, a side panel on a tablet or computer. Adjust quantities or remove items before paying.
Payment method tracking
Record how each sale was paid so cash, transfer and card are separated when you reconcile.
Stock comes down automatically
Every sale deducts from inventory, so the shelf and the system stay in step without a stock-take.
Receipts
Print or share a receipt with your business name and logo straight after the sale.
Customer lookup
Attach a sale to a customer so you can see their history the next time they come in.
Refunds and voids
Reverse a sale properly. The till records who did it and why, and stock goes back where it belongs.
Keeps working offline
Sales save to the device first, so a dropped network never stops the counter. Everything syncs when you reconnect.
Shifts, cash counts and the end of the day
A Z-report closes the shift: it totals everything sold, compares the cash you counted against what the system expected, and shows the difference. An X-report does the same mid-shift without closing it.
- Open and close shifts so every sale belongs to a known period and a known person
- X-report for a mid-shift check: see the position so far without ending the day
- Z-report to close out, with a cash count and the variance between counted and expected
- Cash in and cash out recorded separately, so money taken out of the drawer during the day is accounted for
- Sales attributed to the staff member who rang them up, with their own shift visible to them
This is the part most paper tills never get right. If the drawer is short, you want to know on the day it happened, not three weeks later when nobody remembers the shift.
Who the till is for
TunedBooks Till suits small shops and counters that sell physical items and want their sales records to keep themselves.
Retail shops and minimarts
Fast scanning at the counter, with stock that stays accurate between deliveries.
Pharmacies and provisions
Large catalogues where searching by name beats remembering prices.
Boutiques and electronics
Higher-value items where margin per sale matters more than volume.
Market traders and stalls
Runs on a phone, keeps working when the network does not.
Cafés and takeaways
Quick repeat items, with the day's takings totalled at close.
Shops with staff on the counter
Sales tied to the person and the shift, so the drawer can be checked properly.
Thermal receipts, discounts and split payments
TunedBooks Till prints to Bluetooth thermal receipt printers, applies discounts to a line or a whole sale, and lets one customer pay with more than one method on the same transaction. All three are live in the app today.
Bluetooth thermal printing
Print straight to 58mm and 80mm Bluetooth receipt printers from the till. Pair the printer once and every sale after that prints with one tap.
Discounts at the till
Apply a percentage or a fixed amount, either to one item or to the whole sale. The discount shows on the receipt and your profit figure adjusts with it, so a markdown never quietly disappears from your records.
Split payments
Let a customer pay part in cash and the rest by transfer or card on the same sale. Each portion is recorded against its own method, so reconciling the drawer at close still adds up.
Discounts are the part most shops get wrong on paper. If you cut a price at the counter and nobody writes it down, your profit figure is wrong for the whole month. Here the discount is part of the sale, so the margin you see is the margin you actually made.
